Frenchwomen；　and　which　a　Frenchman　might　not　pass　over　as　he　might　a　

jog　　　of　　　the　　elbow；　　　repeated　　　it　　　with　　　garbled　　　truths　　　to　　　make　　　a　　scandal　　　of　　　a　

story　which　bore　none　on　a　plain　relation。
